Volunteer
As a small start-up charity, we rely heavily on good nature and help from volunteers. There is an abundance of knowledge out there that can be invaluable to charities. Here at Wonder Wards, we are always looking for individuals, of any age,* with knowledge and experience in many areas, including volunteers for future fundraising events. All, in order, to ensure that we can effectively and efficiently achieve our goals to improve the quality of life for those children and young people suffering from life-limiting conditions.
“Volunteers are the very backbone of any charity. Without them, a charity will not reach its goals.
It has always humbled me how good people are prepared to help others at the expense of their own valuable time. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with negative news, on a multitude of media platforms, it brings me an immense peace of mind to know there are still an awful lot of good, selfless, people in the world.”
– Founder Leigh Gilles

Volunteer Roles
General Volunteer
A general volunteer is a broad role that may be asked to either marshal a race, register competitors at the beginning of a race, or manage a stand, for example. It is not specific to any one role. The general volunteer is detailed on the charity records and may be contacted if and when required.
(There will never be an obligation for any volunteer to commit to an event)
Corporate Fundraiser
Raising funds is the primary task of any charity. Without funding, a charity cannot carry out its purpose. As well as fundraising events and donations, charities also apply for grants from various organisations and corporate donors/sponsors. Grants and corporate donors are essential for Charities, especially small ones. Wonder Wards requires a volunteer to search for and apply for grants/corporate donations, to help us fulfill our goals.
Co Fundraising Manager
As a small charity, we can only look for volunteers to help organise fundraising events. Hopefully, as we grow, this may become a paid role. For now, we require someone with good ideas and good organisational skills, to work alongside the founder. In order to plan, organise and produce great fundraising events, both locally and around the country.
What – Co-organise events
Campaign Manager
Our campaign manager role can be merged with another, such as the fundraising manager. It is simply a role to find those that need our help. Such as contacting Hospitals and Hospices to see if their Wards are in need of renovation, for example; or working alongside the fundraising manager to fundraise for a specific campaign.
What – Search for objectives to campaign for.
Social Media Rep
Our Social Media Representative will be in charge of the Wonder Wards Facebook page and any other social media platforms we join in the future. They will be required to post information and promotions on the platforms, in order to raise awareness of the charity, campaigns, and upcoming events.
What – Create and manage Social Media Posts and Messages
Marketing Manager
The marketing manager is in control of marketing the charity; from working with the Social Media Rep, to controlling the charity merchandise. This will include researching new merchandise, purchasing merchandise, and keeping on top of stock levels.
What – Marketing
